Buenos Aires, 22 anos depois.
Muita coisa mudou; prédios novos, vias rápidas, o cais remodelado. Alguns
prédios históricos, como a Casa Rosada agora ficam iluminados à noite. No
entanto, o empobrecimento também se faz notar. Há favelas ao correr da via
expressa que sai de Aeroparque.

As construções tradicionais ainda
continuam bem cuidadas, o teatro Colón, o cemitério da Recoleta, o Obelisco. Os
vendedores argentinos hoje falam português, ou portunhol diríamos, o que é uma
diferença dos tempos passados. O comércio se multiplicou e há muitos shoppings
novos e zonas de outlets. No entanto, não achei que os preços estivessem
valendo à pena. Deve ser a crise mundial, e os tempos complicados do país vizinho atualmente. A Galeria Pacífico ainda se destaca na calle Florida como
uma imponente construção adaptada para shopping. E o Pátio Bulrich ainda tem
seu charme.

Como o metrô estava em greve,
usamos o ônibus turístico para apreciar a cidade. No estilo hop on-hop off, ele
faz um tour de aproximadamente 3 horas. Havia uma fila grande e desorganizada,
onde supostamente os ingressos eram vendidos com hora marcada para as saídas.
No entanto, resolvi me aproximar do início, e acabei percebendo que os horários
não estavam sendo respeitados e tive que discutir para fazer valer nossos cupons.
Até aí muita gente já devia ter embarcado em ônibus anteriores, enquanto nós
fazíamos hora tirando fotos da casa Rosada, e lendo faixas de protesto expostas
na praça. É um bom meio de locomoção, mas faz bastante frio no segundo andar,
onde fica a parte descoberta do transporte.

Tango no Caminito - Tango at Caminito

Domingo no Caminito tem tango na
rua, e em alguns restaurantes e bares. Muitas lojinhas para comprar lembranças,
pinturas nas paredes e bonecos, além das tradicionais casas multicoloridas.
O Museu de Arte Latino Americana
(MALBA) é uma visita imperdível. O prédio tem uma construção moderna interessante,
onde se destaca o conforto ambiental. O acervo fixo não é muito grande, mas
bom. Há sempre exposições temporárias no segundo andar. Há também uma loja de souvenir/livros e um café/restaurante. Tanto este museu, quanto o Museu de
Arquitetura, não existiam quando de nossa primeira visita.

A zona portuária (Puerto Madero)
foi remodelada e está bem atraente. Fomos visitá-la, à noite, para um show de
tango com jantar (Madero Tango). Achamos bem profissional, com dois cantores e
orquestra ao vivo. O corpo de baile não é grande devido ao palco ser pequeno, e
o show agrada no geral. A comida não tem grande destaque, mas as porções são
generosas. O ambiente é moderno e usa a paisagem do cais como parte do espetáculo, a
certa altura.

A nota triste ficou pelo trânsito
difícil, devido à greve dos metroviários e pela nota falsa que sacamos do caixa
rápido no banco de Galícia, da rua Lavalle. Foram somente 100 Pesos, mas é
desagradável de toda forma.

Os alfajores ainda fazem sucesso
e a carne argentina continua muito apreciada. Se gostar de carne ao ponto para bem-passada, é bom pedir o seu bife estilo "mariposa". Assim, eles abrem o bife para melhor assá-lo. Come-se bem, e mais barato do que
em São Paulo, atualmente. O serviço é correto, nada mais. O jantar começa bem
tarde, e os restaurantes começam a encher por volta de 09:30-10:00 hrs. Como dispúnhamos
de muito pouco tempo compactamos a visita, mas valeu à pena rever esta cidade.

Twenty two years later we are back to Buenos
Aires. Many things have changed; new buildings, express-ways, renewed old harbor.
Some of the historic constructions, like Casa Rosada remain illuminated at
night. However, there are shanty towns around the express-way leaving
Aeroparque airport.

Colon Theatre, Recoleta Cemetery and Obelisc
among other traditional touristic points are still well kept. A difference
from the past is certainly the use of Portuguese by many vendors, or better
saying the use of Portunhol (a mixture of Portuguese-Spanish). At present, it
is easy to see how shopping malls are spread around the town together with
streets filled with outlets. Pacific Gallery is a beautiful old construction
that was converted into a mall. Patio Bullrich still keeps its charm.

As there was a strike on the subway system, we
chose the hop-on/hop-off sightseeing bus to visit the city. The journey lasts
around 3 hours and it is a nice way to explore the sites, although it was very
cold on the open second floor. The arrangements to get into the bus were a
little messy and the schedule was not being followed accordingly. After a small
argument, we managed to use our tickets.
In Caminito we can see tango dancers on the
streets, restaurants and bars, on Sunday. There are also small shops selling
souvenir. Besides the traditional multi-colored houses, we can find mural paintings
and huge dolls representing dancers and ordinary people.

The Museum for Latin American Art (MALBA) is
not to be missed. The building itself is very modern and explores the lighting
very well. In addition to the permanent fixtures, MALBA hosts several temporary
exhibits on the second floor. There is also a gift-shop including books and a
nice café/restaurant. By the time of our first trip to BA, both this museum and
the Architecture one did not exist.

The old docks have been transformed in modern restaurants and lofts, but kept the old English style architecture. We went
there to see a Tango Show (Madero Tango). It felt very professional with live
band and singers. There are not too many dancers on stage at the same time, as it is not very big. Dinner was just average, but the portions are huge.
The modern ambient and the stunning landscape of the harbor made it a great
night.

The sad part of the journey was the traffic
jams, due to the subway strike and the counterfeit 100 Pesos bill withdrawn
from Banco de Galicia, at Lavalle Street. Though the amount was not huge, it is
always a disgusting feeling.
The alfajores are still a must and meat keeps
being the strongest part of the meals. If you like your steak medium to well done, ask for "mariposa" style. They open up the steak like a butterfly, so that it cooks evenly. Eating is cheaper than in Sao Paulo
nowadays. Service is correct, nothing else. Dining is a late habit in BA,
starting around 9:30 or 10 pm. As we did not have much time, we had to make a
very compact visit, but it felt great being in Buenos Aires again.
